Sheranga’s singing is steeped in jazz tradition that draws upon a world of influences from many a jazz greats. A powerful, deep alto that can immerse a ballad in tuneful seduction has been singing since childhood, and is known for her innate storytelling instinct and emotional depth. In an effort to expand her musical horizons she joined Leeds College Of Music (UK), the most renowned jazz conservatoire in Europe and graduated with her BA (Hons) Music (Jazz). She has been mentored by jazz maestro Tim O’dwyer (Australia) and under accomplished jazz vocalist and active educator Maya Nova (New York).

Born in Sri Lanka, this performing prodigy, has wowed audiences at home and internationally with outstanding performances. Her noteworthy showcases have earned her standing ovations at musical venues such as the Vortex, Wigmore Hall, Blu Jazz, SEADOM Dinner hosted for all the music directors of South-East Asia to name a few.

She is now based in Qatar and has made her name as one of Doha’s sought after and well-respected vocalists. Performing as a solo artist and as the lead singer of ‘Major Fifth’ since 2017, her extensive repertoire from old school to contemporary and modern hits continue to wow audiences. Boasting a high demand in the mainstream music industry in Doha, Major fifth is amongst the top progressive music acts in Qatar with their most recent feature performance at the Moto GP 2022 at the Lusail International Circuit Main stage. 

An Invitee since 2012 To The Annual Grammy Awards, Music's Biggest Night hosted in Los Angeles, Sheranga is making her mark in the international musical arena not only in her performance aspect.

This Accomplished musician has emerged as a prominent and sought after Vocal Coach, Choral Trainer & Choral Director in Los Angeles, London & Colombo. Music enthusiasts are taught to develop, control, refine and master comprehensive vocal techniques & are exposed to more extensive approaches, with over 50 students enlisted under her tutelage & guidance at her fully fledged, state of the art vocal studio.

|CREATIVE CONNOISSEUR|

Composing & arranging music for big bands to small ensembles, Sheranga infuses her vast exposure in the international arena to combine elements from many musical styles jazz, classical, pop and ethnic fusion music. Her recent works include compositions for the British Association for Songwriters, Composers and Artists (BASCA). A Member of The Audio Engineers Society (AES), USA, Sheranga is a qualified music producer from the University of Surrey (UK), and has also experimented with short film productions in the UK. Sheranga is also affiliated to Songhall Hall Of Fame (SHoF), USA.
